Moorcroft

The Nanaimo Area Land Trust are trying to save Moorecroft for public use. The United Church property will be offered for sale during September 2010.

Moorecroft is a vital part of the rapidly dwindling two percent of  E & N lands which remain undeveloped.  The 34 ha site needs to be protected and remain in its current state.

It has waterfront access and provides abundant habitat for eagles, beaver, deer and cougar.  The large pond is a habitat for blue listed red legged frogs.  Moorecroft is a priceless, pristine parcel of land with a rare biodiversity which includes two tidal bays, wetlands, Garry oak meadows, arbutus, Douglas fir forest and coastal bluff ecosystems. 

Save Moorecroft, a group of neighbours, supports NALT, Moorecroft Campaign Co-ordinating Committee and the Regional District of Nanaimo and others who would be willing to form a management group for the property
